What is “Manos a la obra”?

Let’s talk about ¡Manos a la obra!

In this section, students are provided with different kinds of activities that allow them to use the vocabulary and/or the grammar structures learned in context in the different sections of each instructional module. These activities include individual, pair, and group tasks, and they involve the use of Spanish in the three modes of communication–interpretive, presentational, and interpersonal.

Some activities are more controlled than others, and, thus, they can be assigned for homework. Other activities, for example, pair and group interactions, should be done in class. Here are some examples of ¡Manos a la obra! tasks:

Examples from Trayectos, Volume 1, Módulo 2:

Activity #1: “La reunión familiar de Mariana” (this activity can be assigned for homework).

Activity #2: “Una familia” (this activity should be done in class).

Activity #3: “Una entrevista a Cintia” (this activity should be assigned for homework).

Activity #4: “¡Conversemos!” (this activity should be done in class).

Suggestion: Once your students have completed the activity, you can ask them to write a paragraph for homework based on the information gathered through the conversation.
